The Salt Lake City library is a five story high building that keeps thousands of books. It can be divided into two parts: a round structure which works as ramp/stairway to the building’s green roof that revolves around the plaza and the building. The section closer to the building is covered in glass, and helps illuminate the buildings interiors. The other part has a completely flat façade and faces the street.

The approach to the building, if you want to enter it from the street is completely frontal, if you want to enter it from the plaza, the approach is oblique, leading into an amphitheater through which one accesses the building.

The building contains the vertical circulation in the glass-covered section, it is composed by an organic shaped staircase and the elevators, sitting next to each other, containing it and organizing it.

On the opposite side of this part, are the reading areas for the public, easily reached among horizontal circulation through bridges, where people can study while enjoying views of the plaza.

This building is beautifully organized, the shape and structure is determined by the circulation, and works perfectly in both ways and in both directions. Though vertical and horizontal circulation are separated, the building holds fluid spaces, thus creating comfortable spaces and an ambience of relaxation, suitable for reading and studying.
